LADNER Query

New member, Kim, writes us with the following inquiry....

I am looking for information on Anne Ladner Fuller.  I have found her family including her parents and husband buried at the Ladner cemetery in Easton Maine but I cannot seem to find any thing about her death (when and where).  I have found a death date on Ancestry but there are no sources.  I need a source for my application for DAR. Here is the info I have:

Birth:  7 Jul 1853 West Point, Prince Edward Island; She is the daughter of George Ladner (1805-1881) and Elizabeth M. Wortman (1819-1913).

Marriage: 1881  to Edwin Lewis Fuller  (1856-1909)

Residence: 1900 Easton town, Aroostook, Maine
Death : 2 Oct 1928    ?Maine

The Maine Genealogical Society is pleased to announce Laura Prescott (http://lauraprescott.com) as the featured speaker at our 2013 Fall Conference to be held Saturday, September 21 in Brewer, Maine.  The day of lectures will begin with Prescott's keynote address, "How The Internet Makes Us Sloppy Genealogists."  From there we will enjoy a number of breakout sessions on a variety of topics for varying interests and experience levels - but all designed to help us to become better (and less sloppy!) family historians.

In addition to learning about some of the tools available for online research, including FamilySearch.org and Footnote.com, we'll be exploring the use of divorce records, early Maine town records and academic archives for our research.  So, bring your Maine related queries for our query board, visit our exhibitor/vendor area and enjoy a nice lunch during while making new friends and learning some new tips and techniques for furthering your own research.

MILLER query

Query from a new member, Jaci Hall:

Looking for the parents of Simeon Miller born in Hampden, ME 1825, married to
Harriet Barrows 1849 and died in Bangor 1900. He is buried in the Lakeview Cemetery
in West Hampden amid all the Millers and Barrows to whom I know he is related. Any
help greatly appreciated.

Daniel was born ? in the Balltown area around 1760  He had a son Daavid B. b. 7 Oct 1801. m. 13 Oct 1824 to a Martha Jane Brazier. He died 13 Jan 1853 Boothbay.  He was a powder boy in the war of 1812 Fort Popham.

April 13, 2013 - A Workshop On Federal Census Records Research

Join Maine Genealogical Society members and non-members at the Augusta Civic Center, Augusta, Maine on April 13, 2013 for A Workshop on Federal Census Records presented by MGS President, Helen Shaw, CG.

We'll start with an introduction to the census, the different types of federal census records that exist, and the types of information you can find in each one. From there we'll move on to tips and tricks for finding your ancestors in census records, particularly when an index doesn't exit.

After a break for our luncheon buffet, we'll come back and talk in more depth about non-population censuses. In addition to agricultural, mortality and inducstry censuses, We'll also discuss slave schedules and veteran censuses (revolutionary and civil wars) Finally, we'll end the afternoon with more in depth census research. Learn how to formulate a hypothesis when you aren't sure what it is you're looking for. Then use census records to prove or disprove your theory.

S. G. (Samuel Grimes?) GREEN

Seeking info on S. G. (Samuel Grimes Green??) Green, born abt. 1799 in the U.S.  He was of Scottish origin.  Family history has it that he lived in Bangor, Maine.  Apparently, he eloped with a Merian Kirk (around 1822 or 1823).  Or, he may have married a woman first name of Jennette.  S. G.
Green moved to Canada abt. 1825 and raised a family in Lower Canada (now Quebec).  Descendents of his are named Alexander, James, George, Robert, Samuel, Marion, Ruggles.    Does anyone have any information that may help me trace my great-great-great grandfather, S.G.
